the temptation to cheat is everywhere, but does it mean we always MUST cheat?
like what my student said, there are so many ppl in school who copy their homework, so does it mean as a teacher i stand by and do nothing about it?
if you really think about it, what will you learn from copying? is the handing in a piece of copied work important? i HATE marking copied work,
BECAUSE WHILE I TAKE THE EFFORT TO MARK, WHAT YOU PPL WHO COPY ARE SHOWING ME IS THAT YOU ARE NOT WORTH MY EFFORT. it is not your own work anyway.
eesiang, i know it might be hard to accept, but we should always work towards being the student that people copy from :D
BTW, what do you guys think of me uploading some notes online?
btw, please go check out ur math acelearning acct at www.acelearning.com. the user and password are both ur IC, with caps. i find it a very useful learning portal, but i might not have enough time to bring you guys to the com lab to try it out. so please try it out at home! :D

just finished my lesson with 1F.
have been sitting in the library thinking about many things, so i decided to blog..
i've read the tags, thanks for them (:
to any student who loves copying( hope you know who im talking about)
i think at this point in time you must be quite sick of me telling not to copy your work. i dont know what it takes to change your bad habit of copying. i think if i give you guys a test on the exact same questions from your textbook you can only hand up a blank script.
ASK YOURSELF THIS QUESTION :
WHAT IS THE POINT? AM I BLIND? I CANT TELL YOU COPIED? COPY WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING IS THE WORST. ITS HEARTBREAKING TO SEE COPIED WORK.
and, i am sorry to some of the students if i cannot totally comprehend what you cannot understand. i am trying my best to repeat what i say, but on your part, i also want you guys to take the effort to memorise some steps. there are some steps in mathematics that requires you to move up to higher levels to comprehend why. like why zero is equals to zero.
its just like asking me how come the table is named the table. why isnt it called a chair..
to make your life easier, i will upload a word document on step by step to solving equations. READ everything at the side and PRACTICE doing it on your own.
please feedback if this is effective and aids your understanding.

have you guys ever felt really really tired of pushing, chasing, that all you want is for the other person to understand you?
ever felt disappointed? take that feeling you feel towards one person, multiply it by 60 plus.
well, you get the disappointment i feel.
ever felt scared/stressed ? take that feeling, multiply it by 80, and you get my worries for you.
the mid year exams are coming up, but there is still no sense of urgency.
two days ago was 1F's file check. it was a day that pushed me to my limits. my classes have tested my patience time and again, i've scolded time and again. i know students hate to listen to nagging from their teachers, because i was once a student as well. you dont care abt what happens in the future because all you care abt is block catching and fun fun fun. perhaps when you guys go up to upper sec, you will be touched by what your teachers do for you and eventually get around doing work at the last min. perhaps then you will finally see reason.
i am still waiting for that day to come.
do you know why i do chasing? it tired me to the bone really, most teachers hate this part and the marking part too..
because even if you choose to give up on yourself, i will never give up on you. please try your hardest.
you can tell me you dont want to do mathematics because you just dont know it at all. there are many sources of help. me, your textbook, your notebook, every place you can find, as long as you want to find it. it is all about how much you want to put in.

but something runs in my head everytime, it says dont give up. dont give up. dont give up.
btw, everyone failed before. i have. and you will never imagine how badly i have failed. but the impt part is not the failing part, its the part where you show the world you will not go down like that.

chinese exam.

1st thing : please DO NOT call me anything except miss chia. the school requests for a professional relationship between students and teachers. even though i can be friendly, please make sure the respect is still accorded to me, your teacher. esp my 3D students ah.
2nd thing: next week, i will try to cover the last chapter of the exam syllabus for both 1F and 1E. During my remedials, i will go through solving equations and other topics you guys are weak in.
i hope i have alr informed your classes of the revision class by miss cindy and myself for all chapters before algebra on thurs 30 April from 12 to 2 pm. this will be after your history paper. please do come for this session because we will be trying exam questions.
i see that some of you dont want me to feel disappointed, so please let me see the effort. i will be dropping a BOMB on you guys soon ( aka pop test), study real hard cos it can be anytime. even with no math lesson i can come in and do relief.. be veryyyy afraid. (:

1F LESSON TODAY
another day in school ends. i had a lesson with 1F today.
When i revised the basics for solving equations, i realised that some students are still very weak in this area. i suspect that they are weak in other areas as well too..
this is a wake up call before your midyear examinations. do not wait till its too late, your midyear will contribute to your end of year result. try to score now so that at the end of the year, you will not feel the huge pressure of trying to meet the grade.
When i offered to give extra remedial to these students, i was disappointed at some students, yet at the same time i felt happy for some students.
Disappointed because all these weaker students care about is going home and playing games, chatting on msn, facebooking and doing other things that should not be their priority now. to these students, all i say is that if you really dont want to do well, you want to remain at the bottom, no one can help you.
i DO NOT have a good time myself asking students to stay back for detention or give extra lessons. for every hour i spend with my students in school, there are alot of things that i want to do but cant do.
dear students, i really hope that you guys will buck up and do your best for your midyear examinations. if you know that all along that you have been copying your friends work just to pass up a perfect homework to avoid doing your corrections, please seek help. the perfect answer will not be given to you in ur examinations. take the initiative to find me for help.
On the other hand, there are some students who are displaying good learning attitude which i am very proud of. ( in no order of merit)
1: Hakim - he tore up the piece of work his friend did for him because he knew that he had to do his own work to improve
2. Yue Zhen & Mavies & Yvonne & Angel : these girls have been coming for my extra lessons even though they are not required to.
3. My intensive remedial students : marcus daohui and jiajie. you three have been doing well, esp jiajie. i feel happy for you that you can even teach daohui how to do some angles questions. please keep it up (:
4. There are of course many enthusiastic students that never fail to drive me on even if there are some students who sometimes irritate me when i am teaching.
Im sorry if your name is not specifically mentioned, but thank you (: greatly appreciate your effort in class.
miss cindy has commented to me that for this past week, i have been more angry and fiery. i am sorry that i did not control my temper well. If the class co-operates, it will be much better for me and you.
so i hope from this, you guys can also learn that we are all humans and we make mistakes, even teachers. But as long as we know how to reflect and change, tomorrow is always a better day, for ourselves and the people around us.
i look forward to seeing 1E tmr. during this weekend 1F, please revise hard for your MYE. let me be proud of the whole class, and show everyone WE CAN DO IT (:
